Exclusive Interview w/ Dave Silcox

Hi everyone,

We had the chance to have an interview with Dave Silcox he just released a brand new track called "Hearts" on Revealed Recordings [Hardwell's Label]

Coming straight out of Maidstone, a new blend of Dirty and Twisted Electro is making a name for Dave Silcox.

Having produced music and performed for numerous years and originally starting out on Hip-Hop tracks, it took a trip to the White Isle of Ibiza to open his eyes to the huge world of opportunities within house music. His work is frequently featured on radio shows including that of Pete Tong, Zane Lowe (Gave a remix 'Hottest Record In The world'), Fearne Cotton, Huw Stevens & Steve Smart from Kiss 100, had live & radio support for his new track 'Only You' from Laidback Luke, Gareth Emery playing 'This Is Love' & even none other than Tiesto playing 'Change My World' in his Clublife Podcast! Dave currently has a DJ residency at Gatecrasher & has played many of the house hotspots here & abroad bringing his own unique blend of energy to the dance floors

What other producers, songwriters and/or artist do you see as your primary inspirations?
"My main inspirations are Laidback Luke, Afrojack Alesso, Eric Prydz,
Axwell & really like some of the new guys coming up like Dyro & Joe
Garston too."

Did you first started producing music or Djing?
"I started producing first, then moved to DJing."

Where & what venue was your favorite performance?
"One of my favourite sets of this year was at an Ibiza party for
Gatecrasher in Area, Watford, such a vibe that night."

What software do you use to produce your music? Do you have any extra equipments in your studio?
"Just have Cubase on PC with some Focal monitors & everything in the
box. Want some outboard gear soon though!"

Who is the one artist you would love to do a collaboration with?
"There are loads but if I had to choose it would have to be Laidback Luke"

We see that you released a track on Revealed Recordings, how did you get in contact with them?
"We sent a track to them & they got back saying they really liked it &
wanted to release it."

Do you have any advice for young people who want to become electronic music producers?
"The main bit of advice for upcoming producers is to make track after
track after track until you get there & don't give up. I made at least 300
tracks before I was happy with what I was making. With so many tutorials &
forums online you can find out what you need to progress so easily."

What can we expect from Dave Silcox for the rest of 2012?
"The rest of this year will consist of a few more releases, remixes &
hopefully many more live sets. Watch out for our remake of Praise You
coming out on Spinnin records in October."

Thank you for taking the time to answer our questions dave! We hope to hear more great release from you!
